Around the world on bikes...

Power bars are ready

Yup, Sho baked the power bars yesterday and they were very tasty. I´ll bring you some taste samples of it to Iceland Steinunn.

Really looking forward for this rather short trip to Iceland. Hope I´ll get to meet up with as many friends as possible. Especially looking forward to the weddings!!! Hope the weather will be reasonably good for one of the weddings are outside!

Magga left her sleeping bag here and said that you could borrow it Steinunn if you need it for the bike trip. It´s very small and light weight.

See you in Iceland!! Vona að við náum spilakvöldi með Eddu og Margréti!!

Getting closer......

Well, not much news so far. We like the plan so far and will buy the books in zurich. Every thing is cheaper there. Sho knows about an outlet place where we can buy every thing we need. I even think I´ll by the cooking stuff there.

Just talked to Steinunn on msn earlier and we have some task diving. Steinunn is responsible for our beauty box, Sho is responsible for the repair kit and I´m responsible for the first aid kit.

Then all we need is the home baked power bars and I sure hope that the girls have forgotten all about their plan to bring a fishing rod and catch dinner themselves.

Any ways, DINNER time!!!

From Prag to Berlin....

This tour starts at the springs that are the source of the Spree in Neugersdorf. We would take the train from Prag to here... This 7-day ride follows the Spree River north to Berlin where it flows into the Havel River. The path is in good condition today and the various governments are constantly improving it. Short sections of the trail (mostly through the State of Brandenburg) are made of dirt or sand. In dry conditions, the sandy soil can become soft and deep making riding nearly impossible. The tour takes you through 4 different German states over 250 miles (402 km) to the confluence with the Havel River in Berlin.

The former East Germany has recovered from 50 years of egalitarian rule and its people are rapidly remodeling and improving both their homes and the commercial buildings. While many buildings are not yet upgraded, many already sport the modern color schemes and freshly painted appearance common in the west.

The detailed map and guidebook we can use is the Bikeline Spree-Radweg, (Von der Quelle nach Berlin), Radtourenbuch und Karte, 1:75,000, published by Verlag Roland Esterbauer, GmbH. Can you buy this book somwhere in DK, I cant find it here in Iceland.

I would really like to take this path....and then just take the train from Berlin to Copenhagen...how do you like this?????

I have been looking at hotels in Prag...we can get hotels for around 400 euros for us three...I am trying to find the best location...but it is quit difficault because I dont know anything about Prag...

The Plan!!! :)

The clock shows that the time is little over midnight...but when I look out of my window it is as bright as day...the sky is pink and I can see as far as the eye can reach...oh how Iceland can be beautiful!!!
The last couple of weeks have been just wonderful...I have been working and working and using the rest of my time to meet up with old friends and family...when I sit down I can feel that I am a bit stressed and tiered of all this running around...no DRIVING around (I love to drive ;) but of course I love biking more..hehehehe)... but I really like having this much to do...and even though I have a very tight schedule I am really enjoying my stay here in Iceland...
Anyways...what I wanted to but up now is my version of the schedule for the biking trip....

11. of august Elin and Steinunn arrive in zurich...(dont know the time of the arrival...Elin can you answer that????)

11-15 of august the biking girls paint the town of Zurich red...hehehehehehe...and of course test their lovely bikes...which most of us have not even seen!!!

16 of august the biking starts!!! Here we have to answer the question of if we are going to bike from Zurich or take the train into germany first...

16-25 of august...bike from (Zurich) to Prag... as I can remember this part should take ten days according to the book SHO had...so Sho could you find out from where it is best to start this part, and get a map for this part...

25-27 of august the biking girls stay in Prag... here I was thinking of booking a hotel room for us...so we would have to arrive in Prag the 25 of august (and leave the 27)...so if we for some reason wont make it all the way from Zurich to here in time by bike we would take the train...

27 of august to 5 of september biking from prag to Berlin... I am not sure about this part of the trip at all...I think Sho had some ide of a book for this part as well...is ten days for this part enough or to much...

5-8 og september we would stay in Berlin...Elin I think you should be in charge of planing this part....this is not over a weekend...maybe we should not bike the hole way from prag to berlin... stay in berlin from the 1-4 of september (take tha train some of the part from prag to berlin) and then bike from berlin to Cobenhagen taking the a ship from germany to denmark....???????????????

9 of september....arrival in copenhagen...

please answer and comment on this as soon as possible....but remeber we should not be to orginized!!!!

I am really tired and I am planing two other trips at the same time as I am writing this down so sorry if something is hard to understand...hope you are all enjoying your sommer...

knús og kossar...how can one say this in english...I just ask (ég bara spyr)

No turning around now!!!

Jæja, það hafðist. Loksins!!

Hm, man ekki eftir neinu meiru í bili.

The welcoming comitee

Yup, there a formal welcoming comitee has been formed. The c.e.o. (hope I´m remembering the title corectly) of that comittee is Alex and if you are interested in participating in that committe or just come to the welcoming party you can contact him. Our Icelandic connection (can´t remember if she had a title or not) is Erna.

Only a month now to the trip and Steinunn has bought raingear for the trip!!! Now I´m more concerned with warm temparature than cold. It has been so warm here in Copenhagen and the temparature in my livingroom reached 31°C yesterday.

We´ll keep you informed with news from the welcoming committee ;-)
